Get a Sunday roundup of school emails from Claude

“The one thing I actually need to do is buried somewhere in a week of school emails.”

Steps

  1. Connect Gmail once: go to Customize > Connectors, find Gmail and select Connect, then sign in to Google.
  2. Make it a scheduled task so it runs every Sunday. In the newer Claude, paste the prompt below into any chat, answer any questions Claude asks, review the schedule it proposes and click “Schedule.” In Claude Cowork, click “Scheduled” in the left sidebar, then “New task,” and choose weekly.
  3. Each Sunday’s roundup shows up under “Scheduled” in the left sidebar. You can edit, pause or run it from there.
Copy-paste prompt
Every Sunday morning, read my school emails from the past week (from [school or teacher email addresses]) and give me a short roundup of what I need to know:
- Field trips
- Dates to return things (library books, forms, devices)
- Deadlines for fundraisers, forms and payments
- Early dismissals or no-school days
- Anything I need to sign
Sort everything by date, soonest first. Skip newsletters and general fluff.

Scheduled tasks may need a paid plan. On the free plan, leave off “Every Sunday morning” and run the prompt yourself on Sundays.

Connect only your own inbox. Claude reads your email to do this, so be mindful of sensitive details about your kids, like health or grades. Claude asks before it sends anything.

Most things here work on the free plan. Entries say when something may need a paid plan.
